MEN’S BASKETBALL: Middle Tennessee’s King named TSWA award winner
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Middle Tennessee’s Nick King earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors on Wednesday, averaging 24.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three games for the Blue Raiders.

The senior collected 18 points, five rebounds and four assists in a two-point victory over Princeton to open the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. King followed that with 28 points and 11 boards for his second double-double of the year, hitting 10-of-20 shots overall with a pair of 3-pointers. He was also 6-for-9 at the foul line against the Trojans.

The 6-foot-7 forward posted 28 points and eight rebounds along with three assists in a three-point defeat to Miami, hitting 9-of-15 shots with two more triples and connecting on 8-for-10 at the charity stripe. King is averaging 23.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season for Middle Tennessee.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Cumberland’s Patton garners TSWA weekly honor
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Belmont’s Kylee Smith earned Tennessee Sports Writer’s Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades on Wednesday, posting 26.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in a pair of games for the Bruins.

The Alpharetta, Ga., native recorded 26 points and eight rebounds against Wright State, hitting 9-of-23 shots overall from the field with a pair of 3-pointers. She was also 6-for-6 at the foul line against the Raiders.

The senior guard collected 27 points, nine boards and five assists in a victory at Vanderbilt, making 9-of-16 shots, including 5-for-11 from behind the arc. Smith added four free throws and netted 13 points in the fourth quarter, as Belmont ran away from the Commodores.

She is averaging a team-best 19.6 points along with 7.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game this season.
